Arrived in France in the late 40s, Antti Lovag made his debut with Jean Prouvé. In the 60s, he worked with Jacques Couelle, one of the first architects to develop an organic architecture in France. In the early 1970s, he began the construction of La Maison Bernard where he implemented his radical and innovative conception of housing.

Antti Lovag has a unique vision of architecture. To underscore the non-conventional dimension of his approach, he defines himself as a “habitologist”. He is not interested in architecture as such, but rather focuses on man and his living space to create an envelope encompassing man’s needs. (Courtesy of : Wolfgang Ebert)

Convinced by the talent and innovative ideas of Antti Lovag, Pierre Bernard gave him for almost twenty years the freedom, the means and the opportunity to implement them. It was in the years of their common adventure that Antti Lovag was able to develop an innovative habitat to which his name is now attached.

La Maison Bernard is now open to the public by appointment. The visit is limited to eight people maximum and focuses on the emblematic spaces of the house. It allows to understand the architecture of Antti Lovag.
