Verner Panton, Wega Stereobar 3300, Hifi Stereobar (1963).
2×20 Watt with Dual record player. Germany.
Design by Verner Panton in 1963 for the German firm Wega, since then taken over and liquidated by Sony, the Wega 3300 is a Hi-fi set including record player, amplifier and radio. Wooden block mounted on foot or on wheels, this charming object is articulated in two compartments. The top housing the tuner and amp, while the lower volume contains the deck. Counterbalanced by a steel plate to prevent any sway, the station weighs 50kg and is estimated at around $ 1200. A vestige technological witness of a time when the Made-in-China seemed as impossible as absurd.
