P.Tendercool turns out to be a figment of imagination of Pieter Compernol and Stéphanie Grusenmeyer. The belgian couple are founders and design directors of P.Tendercool, a Bangkok based Haute Manufacture company.
P.Tendercool « makes tables and make them well », unique bespoke tables of the highest international standards and crafted for some of the most discerning clients and interior designers in the world. P.Tendercool boasts cross cultural creations and teams up with international and Thai designers, Italian bronze masters, Belgian wood specialists, French photographers and hosts intriguing pop-up events in their historic New York meat packing style warehouse, gallery and studio by the Chao Praya river.
1/ Can you introduce yourself?
We’re Belgian established in Bangkok since 2004, we are conceptualists and strong supporters of ‘Cross Cultural Creations’. We work with ever changing teams of experts and craftsmen to create Handmade Furniture of the highest standards. We learn from them, they learn from us.
2/ How do you define design?
Design is an eternal exercise to interpret current needs in unseen ways… Hence it is an elevating, frustrating yet fascinating pass-time.
3/ Must design necessarily be functional?
It goes without saying (but ‘creating a smile on a passer-by is also a function)
4/ What do you dream of designing?
The ultimate dining experience where architecture meets furniture design, where symphony and guest-harmony meets gastronomy in casual choreography… a sensuous orgy!
5/ Your next project?
For the last three years we have been focusing a lot on hospitality and interior projects, for 2015 we decided to solely focus on our furniture designs. We’re eternally struggling to refine daily needs in unseen ways.
We are working on another chair, a lounge chair, for an outdoor line. We are enjoying (almost) every moment and we do hope to one day create that ultimate dining experience!
