FRICHE DE L’ESCALETTE – EP3 : JEAN PROUVÉ, NORD-SUD

Faithful to its guideline, the Friche de l’Escalette presents for its third summer exhibition of light architecture in the sumptuous setting of the ruins of the lead factory of the Calanque de l’Escalette. Two structures by Jean Prouvé represent the quintessence of prefabricated metal architecture, light, nomadic, ecological … qualities combined with ingenuity, simplicity and a unique aesthetic, including the awesome “plate twisting” of Nancy was a major precursor. Some modern sculptures punctuate the tour of the Friche, works of great sculptors, active from the early 1950-1960 … until today for Parvine Curie. All belong to this ultimate generation of artists who privilege physical contact with matter: earth, plaster, stone, ceramics, wood, metal … They also share the same ideal of bringing beauty and poetry to the everyday environment for the greatest number, creating works in harmony with architecture, urbanism, landscape. They are of the same humanist essence as Jean Prouvé, who is also a friend of Stahly.
