Designer Of The Day: Eric Chevallier

He is the free-spirit of design. Self-taught Eric Chevallier starts working at Colette’s at 19 years old. He begins in career in the Fashion department and moves on to the scenography and design for the store and the brand. He works on the 2008 makeover of the shop. And in 2014, signs the new look of the famous Parisian concept-store.

In the meantime, he is called upon to define the architectural look of Fashion House Carven, in three years, he supervises the make-over of the 40 stores around the globe, including in Tokyo, NYC, London, Beijing and Shanghai.

“I like being described as an illustrator”, Eric Chevallier draws each element in the projects he manages. From the lights, to the furniture, and even the dinner plates! Eric enjoys working with the pair Domeau & Pérès and has 4 objects of his in the catalogue of the famous saddling and upholstery experts. Simplicity, purity and colors, are the words that uses Eric to describe his work.

I am a French objects designer. I draw furniture, public and private spaces.

2/ How do you define design?
It is materializing an idea.

3/ Must design necessarily be functional?
Not in my opinion, I like confort as much as discomfort.

A yacht with Wally!
